German - Singapore Trade Forum

The recent German-Singapore Forum at the SMF discussed the importance of Free Trade Agreements

On the 21st of May 2019, The Singapore Manufacturing (SMF), the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Singapore together with the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Singapore jointly organised a trade forum on the on the importance of Free Trade agreements, notably the Europe Union Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA).

Dr Tan Wu Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Industry was invited as the Guest of Honor. Dr Tan delivered his keynote speech on “Germany’s / EU’s perspective on Free Trade: Opportunities and Challenges” which outline the importance of FTAs, business opportunities arising and what both parties (Singapore and EU / Germany) are doing to safeguard market access and ensuring a predictable operating business environment.

Several Q & A sessions were also conducted with insights given by industry captains from the private sector as well as the public sector from Singapore and Germany.
