31 July 2018 - Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and Sri Lanka High Commission organised a networking cum Business-to-Business (B2B) session on 19th July 2018 at SMF Building. The session attracted more than 30 Singapore companies who were interested to explore business opportunities in the Electrical, Electronics and Allied Industry of Sri Lanka.
SMF Council member and Chairman for Electrical, Electronics and Allied Industry Group, Mr Tay Jih-Hsin welcomed the Sri Lanka High Commission and Sri Lanka Export Development Board before the event. Bringing with them a Business Delegation made up of six Sri Lanka manufacturers who were interested in the Singapore markets, they were a good representation of the vast business potential of this industry as they manufacture products such as fiber optic patch cords, refrigerators and power cables. Eager to proceed into the B2B matching session, companies from both nations started their own B2B session before the actual event commenced.
It was a fruitful affair as companies shared their businesses to each other and exploring opportunities to go beyond their respective shores. At the end of the event, the Sri Lanka delegation expressed great satisfaction in meeting quality Singapore companies that are relevant to their businesses.
Singapore and Sri Lanka enjoyed good trade relations, earning $2.7billion in trade last year. This year, both nations signed a free trade agreement to further boost trade between both markets and provide greater access for Singapore companies to establish in the Sri Lanka market.
